You're aware that it's for smaller 2.5" drives and not the desktop 3.5" drives right?
Intel Core2Quad Q9550 (2.83Ghz (stock)), ASUS P5Q, ASUS ENGTX260/HDTP/896M, Transcend JetRam DDR2-800 2x2GB, 2x Seagate Barracuda 500GB, Gigabyte Odin 720W, Gigabyte G-Power 2 Pro CPU cooler,CoolerMaster Ammo 533, Leadtek Winfast DTV2000H, Cyber Snipa Stinger lazer gaming mouse, Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1 Headset, Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64bit
What's your point?

Nothing. Just some people might confuse the two sizes so I'm merely making sure you're getting what you want.

Yes, I am thanks.
Sometimes the USB port doesn't supply sufficient power so you need to connect external power to the enclosure hence this thread.

As far as I know most if not just about all 2.5" enclosures and externals run purely from USB, it's only for the bigger 3.5" drives that they all feel they need wall power as well.
At least I've yet to see a 2.5" enclosure which uses wall power.
Those Vantec Nexstars are the best though so either way you'll get the cream of the crop.

As I said,
Like when connecting to a front panel USB port or through USB extension cable/s, some reviews on Newegg of the Vantec enclosure also say that it needs external power to function properly when using USB3 at times.Sometimes the USB port doesn't supply sufficient power
The external power is not necessary every time you want to use the drive, only when the power coming from the USB port is not enough.

I know that's what you said. I'm just saying they usually don't have them. Most 2.5" enclosures are basically USB Plug and Play with no other cable or even port should you manage to obtain such a cable.
The idea is that people that want a small pocketable drive the way 2.5" drives are don't want to be lugging an extra cable around.
And I'm also mentioning it since only a USB cable is listed in the package contents of that Vantec (as with most 2.5" drives).

I don't know of a lot (or all, off the top of my head) 2.5" enclosure that has a port for an external power adapter. It used to be a problem a number of years ago, but I've not had any complaints or any questions even, regarding this for quite some time.
These days, the USB cable that plugs into the computer comes with a splitter, so that the adapter draws power from two USB ports in stead of one. I've yet to have a problem with any of the later drives, as stated above.
I think you can just buy on and assume it'll work without an adapter.

VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT PM ME FOR FORUM HELP/ISSUES. THERE ARE MODS FOR A REASON.
I'd rather have the feature there and never use it than to not have it and need it. The Vantec can take external power, I am happy.
