    need a new mouse

ok, so my Logitech MX518 is going off - the buttons on the top are non-responsive.

i want a mouse that has similar amount of buttons & in same locations as the mx518.

closest i could get was the coolermaster storm sentinel advance. but its out of stock. (if you can get stock i would buy this one)

    any other suggestions?

also, it must have a matt finish, i dont like a plastic surface.

I'm using the R.A.T 9 and its amazing for gaming, especially FPS. I would however recommend the R.A.T 7 (cabled version) because the battery changing on the 9 can become a pain. The mouse is designed with FPS's in mind, the "slow mo" button works nice when sniping. Its customization (can make it longer, wider and change weight) also allows for comfortable use for almost any shape or sized hand and you can change the top cover from a smooth hard surface to something more rubbery if you prefer.

    And its Matt.

It is 3 times the price of the MX518 though :/

I have an MX518 and so does Monty.

Ever thought of getting the Logitech M705?

Check my review here - [EXCELLENT] Logitech M705 Wireless Mouse

Like you, I was hesitant and took a while because I wanted a mouse like my old Logitech LX8 - I must say I am 100% happy with my Logitech M705 and if you have small hands like I do, this is the perfect mouse.

Lots of my girl friends have noticed my massive hands. You know what they say about massive hands? Large hands, large gloves...

Take a look at these (I know they're not cheap but it's the best I could find that's isn't marked out of stock):

CM Storm Sentinel - Prophecy.co.za - Coolermaster Storm Sentinel Z3RO-G Silver & Black Gaming Mouse

Razer Imperator - Prophecy.co.za - Razer Imperator 4G Dual Sensor Laser Gaming Mouse

Yeah most guys' hands are big - if you saw mine, you'd not believe it and a lot of women who are slightly taller than I am have bigger shoe sizes and bigger hands than mine. Even my half sister who is 6 years younger than me has bigger hands and is about up to 10 cm taller than I am. Their comments are like "What? You're tiny" - even the same comment on my feet size

MX518 people tend to like neutral ambidextrous mice so I'd recommend the Steelseries Xai
Prophecy.co.za - Steelseries XAI Ambidextrous Gaming Laser Mouse

Another option that may appeal though it's slightly more sculpted is the Razer Orochi.
Prophecy.co.za - Razer Orochi Wired+Wireless Dual Mode Gaming Mouse

And in case it's dual use doesn't appeal or if it has too few buttons there's the Razer Lachesis as well though it's even more sculpted but at least it's still ambidextrous.

edit: hmmm, perhaps scratch the Orochi, it seems to be on the small side, so just Lachesis and Xai then.

    Budget perhaps?

Mouse IMO: RAT7 (works with the Razer Fragged and non-fragged speed mousepad)

Have worked with the the Following:
    1. Logitech G9x(good but lacks the RAT abilities for FPS)
    2. RAT 9 Absolutely HATE The Batteries
    3. Storm sentinel(Plastic goes off after time)
    4. Xai(Very plain if that is your look, very well build)
    5. Imperator (non 4G, Very comfy and still working since it was launched - friend mouse)
    6. Sidewinder X8(Mouse is very plastic, My previous mouse)
    7. WOW Cataclysm mouse(VERY VERY BIG, Lots of buttons, very easily accessible, but also plastic fades as the Sentinel does)

I would say for OP just get the G500, exact same shape as the MX518 but with a lot of new features.

Why not just get another MX518? You can still find them around.

    No, I mean MX518.

Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse - South Africa - Price - Logitech mouse mx

But the G400 is a good replacement indeed.

    thx for the suggestions.

i dont want the mx518 again. i have one, its been little of a year and the buttons are fooked. and i hate the plastic under my palm. my first razer mouse lasted me almost 2.5 years.

the only mouse suggested here that closely resembles what i want is the Prophecy.co.za - Razer Imperator 4G Dual Sensor Laser Gaming Mouse

but i dont know if it has a mat finish. i would buy the coolermaster sentinel advance in a heartbeat if there is stock. is there a possibility?

the mouse must have a minimum of 6 buttons. two on left side (by thumb), two by the mouse wheel (behind/below) it.

there is no budget. i dont like buying cheap and replacing more than i want to.

Thermaltake, BMW Designworks Make the Level 10 M Mouse

    Fap Fap Fap
When one mentions Level 10 and Thermaltake, the first thing that comes to mind is the uniquely designed Level 10 GT tower case.

Now for CES 2012, Thermaltake subdivision Tt eSports has exclusively shared with Tom's Hardware a new product designed in collaboration with BMW's Designworks USA: the Level 10 M mouse.

The immediate standout feature of the Level 10 M mouse is that it features a hollowed-out design that allows for height and angle adjustment of the mouse body. By turning a screw on the top side of the mouse, users can adjust the size and shape of the mouse, changing how it fits under the palm.

The Level 10 M mouse also features a perforated palm surface to help alleviate some of those sweaty gaming sessions with passive airflow.

Release date and price have yet to be revealed, but we will to find out more this week when we go hands-on. Stay tuned.
    Mega FAP FAP FAP!

No Budget? Well it's very sculpted then far more so than the Imperator but perhaps the Roccat Kone+ would be worth a look as well.

And this version of the CM Storm Sentinel is in stock (already posted by Bloodrayne) Prophecy.co.za - Coolermaster Storm Sentinel Z3RO-G Silver & Black Gaming Mouse

Phalen is talking about this one - Prophecy.co.za - Coolermaster Storm Sentinal Advance Gaming Mouse and I'm pretty sure she actually prefers the Advance's color scheme over the silver and black one that I posted.

Only one problem with these two is this:
Material: Rubber Grip / ABS Plastic / Mesh Bezel / Metal Plate
Now that's weird. I just discovered a 6th button on my M705, just below the two mouse-buttons (zoom). Now to hunt for my mouse's driver / software CD and find out what it is for...
