    Unhappy Sandy Bridge 2600K alternative

Hi guys, I know the Intel 2600K is a real nice CPU. What other CPU would you guys recommend on socket 1155 platform for gaming?

Any i5 or i7 (quad core) and if you want to do some overclocking the K series is the one to get.

There is the 2700K which is the top of the range 1155 CPU.

Well you just have to go one down to get to the next most recommended (assuming budget is your reason for looking elsehwere, otherwise playing the waiting game might also be an option if budget is no issue since Sandybridge E and Ivybridge are on the way). So for non-overclockers (who shouldn't be looking at the K version anyways) that would be the regular 2600. For overclockers it would be the next K version so the 2500K.

As mentioned, if you want to overclock, get the K versions.

If you don't, and you just want to game, then a 2400, 2500 or 2600 would be fine, or even overkill, depending on the rest of your setup. I usually recommend the 2500, as it's the price/performance point.

Thanks everyone, the 2500K seems to be great for gaming and normal computing

Yup, there's no doubt about that. All of Sandybridge is great and powerful, even the i3s pack a decent punch (though they'll lose that punch faster than the i5s and i7s).

    You heard?

Well the shop tries to keep the levels on the site accurate and on the site it's showing as in stock so unless you spoke to someone actually from the shop I guess you got wrong info...
