    Mede8er stock?

Does anybody know when Mede8er stock levels will rise?

The question is rather WHY do you want a Mede8er? There are much better options around.

Sorry, just registered now. Do you have any suggestions? Something with the option of internal storage and wireless streaming?

If you want an "off the shelf" option I was quite impressed with the WD Live Hub, much more so than the Mede8er.

Another option could be a Boxee, but not sure you'll find one in SA at a reasonable price.

    But then there is this...

    HP Proliant Microserver - XBMC/OpenELEC

Will cost you a wee bit more money, but offers an infinitely better solution depending on your exact needs.

The WD media hub was my second choice, but it does not include wifi...

As for an entire media server, well, someday, perhaps. Right now I need something smaller, simpler, and cheaper.

Oh okay, haven't looked at the most recent Mede8er options.

But a R100 dongle worked just fine on the WD Live Hub I tested.

You simply plugged in a USB WiFi adapter.. wow. Then that is looking like a good deal.

Was it easy to connect the hub to secured WiFi? I have heard some people have had issues with the mede8er in that regard.

Connected it to my folk's WPA2-PSK secured network without a problem.

I used one of these dongles if I recall correctly...or a Planet one.

Tenda Technology - - 802.11N Wireless USB Adapter

Tenda Technology - - 802.11N Wireless Nano USB Adapter

    Tenda Technology - - 300Mbps 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter

Be warned though that if you only have an 802.11G network you are going to have trouble streaming anything HD.

Oh I should mention the only problem with the WD Live Hub is that you cannot connect it directly to a PC to transfer over USB.

Unless there's a special cable for it, but it doesn't hook up like a normal external drive.

Although plugging in with Gigabit solves that problem.

Either way you can setup a "sync" folder and just leave it to churn away over the network.

Alas, I am unable to take advantage of those juicy prices, as I am not a dealer..
    Any other suggestions?

BTW, I have managed to stream 720P over 802.11G, surprisingly.

Do you know how I can contact prophecy to get a clear answer to my original question?

Seems phone calls are you best bet when dealing with Prophecy.

Unbelievable, for an online shop, I know.

Those prices are dealer, but they do also sell to the public for about +25% incl VAT if I recall. But dongles can be had anywhere and a Google before hand should confirm if anyone couldn't make it work.

    Hi Victor,

I'm not sure if I spoke to you on the phone yesterday, but here is a list of all the Mede8er products we have currently:

Prophecy.co.za - Computer Hardware, Software, Accessories, Peripherals

Most of the units are in stock with our suppliers. Only the accessories are not in stock. Here's one with a wifi adapter:
    Prophecy.co.za - MEDE8ER MED500X2 + WIFI N ADAPTOR

It doesn't come with a hard drive, but any SATA drive will work. you can find that from our SATA category, over here:
