Why is the forum super slow!? And why's it causing double posts and post warnings?

It takes forever to load a page, double posts all the time and gives me 'you can't post within 20 seconds of posting' error messages every time I try to post... What gives!?

I thought it was just me, but I tried it from another workstation using another ISP and same issue... Anyone else been experiencing it?

    Fine for me.
Beware of your thoughts, because your thoughts become your words. Beware of your words, because your words become your actions.
Beware of your actions because your actions become your habits. Beware of your habits, for they define your character.
And beware of your character, for it becomes your destiny.

I've been noticing the double posts since yesterday, but the forum isn't slower for me.

Edit: This post took much longer than usual though :/

Firestar is having someone take a look at the server with regard to the double posting issue.

Will take a couple of days though. Sorry 'bout that.

    had doubleposts twice on Friday.
    first time in 4years.

edit: it almost did it again right now. some "you must another 10seconds before posting... bla bla bla"
if you click post again, it posts the 2nd one.

clicking BACK instead, shows that you have already posted.

    mweb uncapped.

Forum generally feels normal speed, until you click the actual Post button.

Then it takes forever, and I presume times out in the background and pops up the full edit mode with the "20 seconds....blah blah" message, even though it has posted already.

The double posts happen if you then click Post again, after waiting for the time to pass.

Think it might be a vBulletin thing, seen it on another board. Maybe a mod or buggy version.

    Yea had it to yesterday.

And nice one Sauron, making a double post in a thread about double posting problems , that's ironic heh.

Feels like a table lock in the database or something.

He he, only noticed that now.

    Maybe it's an M-Web thing?

Yeah, it's SUPER slow on my side - takes at least 30 seconds to load a page - whereas a week or so ago it was near instantaneous... And I've tried it on an Afrihost account AND a DataPro account... So don't know what the problem is to be honest, but makes the forum virtually unusable...

Hmmm... Browsing the forum from my old Win XP PC now, and it's fast as ever... Will try again later on my Macbook - wonder if it might be Safari? Will give it a bash with Chrome to see if there's any difference.

EDIT: although making a post still takes a while - much longer than it used to...

Browsing and generally forums is as normal as ever, the issue I am having is with posting and creating posts. It takes anywhere from 1 to 2 minutes once you click on the post button (replying to a post or making a new one) but once you are done and you edit it then its fast.

Also I noticed when you wait for that 1-2 minute period and open a new tab in your browser and go back to the forums main page you will see your post there even though it is still working in the other.

    Hi Guys,

There definitely is something wrong with the server too. We're working on it, but I'm afraid it's going to take a while. Probably a couple more days. Sorry about that. Working as quick as we can.
