Okay, I'll admit, the new visual style of the game is really starting to look good.

It does look good. Bullet time looks great (again). Can't wait. There was a ton of info about the MP in the second latest OXM -> I'll read up and let you guys know.

The second last OXM has a 3 or 4 page detailed report on the MP -> I skipped over it last night as I was tired - but I'll check it out. If it is superfluous rubbish = I should be able to detect straight away .

Unless they get it right. Ala Mass Effect 3. And this is Rock* we're talking about here - GTA4 and RRD were pretty successful in the MP arena. And to be fair, Max Payne does kinda lend itself to awesome gunplay that should translate beautifully to MP.

Well define successful, I mean how many people do you know who still play GTA4 and RRD multiplayer? These games main focus is the single player aspect and not the multiplayer. Once they release it they don't have constant updates and expansions for the multiplayer side of things because it isnt their main focus, if you compaire it with titles like COD and GOW.

I feel that they should focus more on the single player side of things and just drop the whole multiplayer aspect in games that dont really need it. Sure if it is a game like COD and GOW by all means. But if it is a story drivin game like RRD or GTA4 I would rather have an extra say 10 hours of gameplay and 3-4 big DLC updates. Rather use that resources you are wasting on the multiplayer to add to the single player, when I bought RRD I bought it for the single player and the multiplayer was not even in my mind. And having said that I only touched in once or twice.

I'd define both titles, developed and published by Rock*, as commercial and critical successes by this token.

LIVE Activity for week of March 5

Xbox 360 Top LIVE Titles (based on UU’s)

01 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
02 Call of Duty: Black Ops
    03 FIFA 12
    04 Battlefield 3
    05 Halo: Reach
    06 Modern Warfare 2
    07 Mass Effect 3
    08 Skyrim
    09 NBA 2K12
    10 Gears of War 3
    11 GTA IV
Xbox Live's Major Nelson サ LIVE Activity for week of March 5 :

While this is not necessarily a reflection of MP activity, GTA IV - a game released almost four years ago - is still in the top 20 when it comes to Live activity. RRD, I'm sure, is in the top 30. I'm pretty confident a lot of people still play these titles MP.

These games main focus is the single player aspect and not the multiplayer.
Correct - that's why they boasted 30+ hour campaigns and scored such high review aggregates. The multiplayer, while not the main focus, did not at all detract from the overall quality of the product - it just added an extra element to an already winning formula.

Once they release it they don't have constant updates and expansions for the multiplayer side of things because it isnt their main focus, if you compaire it with titles like COD and GOW.
So, by that logic, games like COD and GOW should do away with SP altogether? Do you see the flawed nature of your argument here? And while I can't confirm that GTA IV had MP updates or DLC, RRD sure did:

New multiplayer modes, such as Stronghold mode, have been added in the Liars and Cheats pack.[15] The Undead Nightmare pack included two new games modes: Undead overrun mode, and Land grab. It also included eight new zombie characters, including a Zombie Marston and Zombie Ricketts.
Red Dead Redemption - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Furthermore, I don't know if you ever played the MP aspect of either title, but I did, and the only thing that hindered it was lag. I imagine that playing in the US or UK eliminates this factor, and even with this hinderance the MP modes were fun and added value to the overall product, especially the co-op modes.

So the COD and GOW titles are not story-driven? And it's hard to judge whether a game needs an aspect or not, from an end-user's perspective. It's a business, and if the business decisions demand a decent MP aspect, and the developers deliver, I don't see why it's a problem. I for one was perfectly happy with GTA IV and RRD's SP campaign lengths - the gameplay and stories were rich and nuanced - and if they were any longer they may have compromised on the perfect balance they struck between longevity and fun.

Rather use that resources you are wasting on the multiplayer to add to the single player, when I bought RRD I bought it for the single player and the multiplayer was not even in my mind. And having said that I only touched in once or twice.
So then you don't have to bother with MP3 MP. But I would like to check it out - especially after ME3's rather solid MP offering - cos times are changing, and devs know their fans would crucify them if they ****ed it up. And this is Rock* larch - one of the most established and critically acclaimed developers and publishers in the history of gaming - there's very little chance they'll **** it up.

I'm sorry to do this, but I think it quite a fitting closing response to your argument:

    ...sooooooo SWEEEET...

But just for you, the tl;dr version: GTA IV and RRD were commercial and critical successes despite their MP aspects, which weren't just tacked on cash-ins but fully developed modes that gamers enjoyed as much as they enjoyed the SP. They did in no way detract from either game's awesome SP campaign. Therefore, if these titles are anything to go by, MP3 MP should be pretty solid and fun.
