Question The Golden Butterfly (LA Noire) - Warning Spoilers-

Was it me or did this case feel broken? All the evidence pointed to the Hugo (The Husband), but when you convict him of the crime even after collecting all the evidence and taking him through the interrogation you get three stars wtf? It felt that neither Hugo or Eli (The Paedophile) had any real motive for killing Hugo`s wife. So I reloaded and convicted Eli (The Paedophile) of the crime and I get full marks....Was it a case that neither was guilty but you needed to put away the paedophile because he was the greater "evil" of the two?

Essentially, yes. The captain wants you to nail the 'greater evil.'

As to rest - just keep playing. The ambiguity will be explained.

Thanks, all the cases up and till now have been clear cut. So I was a bit confused when they threw me this curve ball.
