    Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

EA and 38 Studios have released the launch trailer for Big Huge Games’ action-RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The open-world game allows the player to create a character using “millions” of combinations of weapons and armor sets, dozens of unique skills and abilities customizations, and further expanding it through the game’s Destiny System. Reckoning releases February 7 in the US and February 10 in the UK for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Played the demo definitely a day 1 purchase for me.

I'll wait for the reviews - although I'm seeing good feedback in general.

Not sure why this is a selling point though:
create a character using “millions” of combinations of weapons and armor sets
I'll probably just use the default settings and skip through to the actual game. I swear some of these designers go home and dress barbie dolls up all night.

Just the fact that RA Salvatore and Todd Mcfarlane worked together on this is enough to peak my interest.

Borrowed a copy from the store last night and it's pretty good Basically plays like a slightly more hand-and-slash version of Dragon Age - haven't gotten too far into it, but the game's pretty good so far.

Kingdoms of Amalur is fairly audacious, in that it tries to find a midpoint between Blizzard “lush” and Skyrim “breadth,” with combat that is immediate and kinetic and substantially less SCA. It’s a smart-ass, upstart maneuver that should have resulted in room temperature dogshit, and it didn’t. Check it out.
I was also sceptical at first, but then I figured I'd give it a shot after a few video reviews.

I have tried searching on their website for you but the search brings up nothing, maybe they don't have any stock due to come in or have met their limit? I know on Takealot when I searched about 3 weeks ago I found the PS3, Xbox and PC version but the end of last week when I searched again the PC version isn't on their website anymore. I pre-ordered mine from BT Games, they have a nice pre-order special price too Maybe you can give them a call to order one?

I'm thinking same thing - most likely stock constraints -> it was up yesterday - this morning when I want to order - gone baby, gone.

Yar, I checked with Kala and TakeAlot, both are having stock issues. I ended up tagging onto a friends BTGames pre-order. He will go collect the game first thing tomorrow morning. Which means someone is not getting their game tomorrow.

BT Games is one company that doesn't give a f<beeeep> about their customers. They have such a strangle hold on the gaming community that it's not their priority to ensure good customer service. So in saying that, if a person comes in with a piece of paper saying they pre ordered 5 copies of KoA, that person will get 5 copies of KoA.

I have _seen_ this happen, I even once ordered a pre order on the day of release (Dunno how that went through, but anyway). I went to the shop and the manager behind the counter literally pulled the game from another person's plastic bag and gave it to me.

So yeah, I wont be surprised if the two copies my friend is getting tomorrow, that one of those is someone else's pre order, but because we were first, we get the game.

I'm getting my copy from Menlyn, and afaik you're in CPT. So no worries for you

Talk about crappy service, I only pre-ordered by them as I didn't have to pay upfront. There will be hell to pay if my copy isn't there though, at least I know it won't be you haha.

Not the only ones who do this. AWX did this to me for Fable and Fallout. They over sell their games and then shrug their shoulders when not enough stock arrives. It usually goes to the guys who get to the store first - rather than those who pre-ordered first.

AWX did it to me more than I can even remember to count.

I can easily spend up to an hour+ creating my character.
