I think the price is a bit expensive, but am still planning on getting one lol
anyone here got the Vita already? What games do you recommend for it?

Spambot aside - Is anyone buying one? Everyone has been quiet about it which means:
1]. It is too expensive or
2]. No one has time in their lives for yet another platform
Personally I just don't have the time. I think it would be a door stop within 2 months of purchase.
Mostly 2.
My PSP has been a wasted platform for me, so I won't be making the mistake again.
Even managing more than one console if almost impossible.
The iPhone/iPad will cover my mobile needs when I absolutely have to find something to do, such as when I'm on a plane or stuck in a queue.

Watched the Youtube review from IGN (or was it Gamespot?) for the Uncharted game for Vita, and can't say I'm overly impressed. Was that not the must-have title for launch?
Either way, I'm not the target market for this thing. R3k+ is just not worth the price of mobility for my lifestyle.
Combination of 1 and 2. I'll get one when it's below R2k as there are games exclusive to the platform that I'd like to play.
Saw it at incredible connection last night. That's a damn expensive piece of hardware.
off topic/
hope everyone is keeping an eye on this story:
Thug PSP Attacker Facing "Long Time in Prison"
when the riots happened for some reason I found that story particularly ugly. Hope the muggers do an extended time in jail (even though it is more like a health spar in the UK)...........
Definitely a pass for me. A mobile platform to me, is something that should keep me busy while waiting in a queue or burning short periods of time that requires me to stay put. A smartphone or tablet already fills that gap rather well. Especially when you take a look at the graphics from some top titles like Infinity Blade II. Our day to day mobile devices are becoming insanely powerful, the A5 and Tegra 2 chips aren't even being pushed to their max and A6 and Tegra 3 are around the corner.
I don't see a much of a future beyond entertaining kids in the back-seat for PSP's nor Nintendo's.

That's where you clearly don't form part of the target market. The amount of exclusive games available on the PSP and DS was the main reason the platforms are still used in my house to this day. Granted the PSP doesn't get that much love at this point, but the DS gets played to death.
JRPGs have found a new home on handheld consoles. I don't see this changing any time soon. Keeping in mind how absolutely massive JRPGs are in Japan, I doubt the market for dedicated gaming handhelds is going anywhere.
Games like infinity blade don't come close to even the shittiest PSP or DS game. Sure, visually it's pretty, but it's simply a time waster and a pretty empty experience at the end of the day.
You're right. I personally definitely don't fall in their market.
The graphics/eye-candy is what I was referring to. It shows that hardware-wise the devices are capable. The depth of the game, its story, etc are up to the developers. There are other options available, even MMORPG's.

As for the time wasting, that's kinda what I mentioned in my first post. Something to burn time in queues etc. A large part of the iOs and Android market focus on these type of games. Angry birds is a good example. I never considered a mobile platform to be more then that. I can't see someone choosing to play on say a PSP vs. a normal PS3 for a prolonged time unless the exclusives are really that good?
I still have a PSP3000 around here somewhere, any JRPG you can recommend? Maybe I'll give it a shot and change my mind.

The problem is the inherent flaws of the input method of the devices being completely unsuited for any conventional core games. Touch screens suck for core games.
Persona 3 portable
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Crisis Core
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Disgaea 1 & 2
The 3rd Birthday
FF Tactics War of the Lions
Tactics Ogre : Let us cling together
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
Haven't played them all, but that's pretty much a good selection.
P3 portable is apparently brilliant. Crisis Core is awesome and plays brilliantly, even in short bursts.
Should be demos available for all of them on the PSN.
