Sounds like a good birthday present.

Then again there was some deal made about Star Wars and LOTR.

So I've been playing this over the last couple of days. Shadow of the Colossus in particular. And you know what? It's total pants. I remember raving about SotC when it first came out on the PS2 and how killing the monsters made me a little sad and whatnot and how the barren world made it all the more lonely and blah blah blah. What a load of shit.

Playing it now, it's all just a bunch of artwank nonsense. The camera has actual Parkinsons, it controls like a dog and knocking about on the horse (in the ultra-dull over-world) takes a lifetime. It's not that I don't just like that game now, I actually think it's awful.

Ico is a million times better. Whatshisface probably fluked it. I find myself not really caring about The Last Guardian anymore. Meh.

Can't wait for the Last Guardian and loved ICO all over again, but yes I stopped playing SotC just about one Collossi further than I ever got before.

For me it's more the super manual controls that are the problem, the fact that I literally need to keep a "hold" button in.

It's the perfect example of a game where people get caught up in the hype, convince themselves it's all sorts of amaze while playing it, rave about it on message boards and call it Game of the Year. Then when you boot it up 10 years later, you're excited to be playing your favourite game again, but BAM!!!, its averageness (now sans hype) drills you in the pooper.

Maybe old games are just shit once they reach a certain age. I dunno.

Aren't you the bloke who used to feast on little scraps of Nintendo non-news and then post it to your bog/blog? I remember that - we'd make fun of the Wii (which you'll agree now was and is absolute toilet) and you'd start wind-milling about the forums defending the duct taped Gamecubes as if your life depended on it. I think you once said Disaster: Day of Crisis was a good game. That was a good one, Larch! Have you developed any new jokes since?

Oh yeah, and you also put up a picture of you sporting some some stupid looking goaty thing on your face. You looked well dumb.

I started SoTC up in December (having never played either it, nor Ico before), and made it to about the 6th Colossus and found it pretty enjoyable for the most part - a few bosses in, and the game's 'pattern' becomes pretty apparent. I just don't know how fresh it's going to feel by the time you reach the last few of the (16?) Colossi. It's certainly something different, which is a welcome change from the usual stuff we're accustomed to.

I'll admit, I bought the bundle having read stellar reviews for both titles across the board and am hoping SoTC has a trick or two up it's sleeve to spice things up later on.

Yeah, I forgot my password and had to wait for StrawDog to help reset it, but wanted to have a moan so long, so I created the other account.

Anyway, ICO's boss. Maybe not as boss as I when I first played it, but then I've grown older, game design has improved and I'm not emotionally connected to games anymore like a nancy boy.

I've only sunk a few hours into SoTC so far, shouldn't be a train smash to start ICO instead?
