or... they are making dosh off a DLC again.

Hehe, being Bioware I'm sure they'll tack on a proper story at least. He was cryo-frozen, mkay?

did you miss in ME2 the part that the reapers converted the remaining protheans to the collectors? that the collectors have prothean dna?

They really really need to release boxed Full versions. Damn, another thing I really wanted in the games (such as a bit about the Shadowbroker) ends up not part of the game but cut out as DLC instead.

    ########## Demo spoilers ##########

I played the demo last night and I am thoroughly impressed. I play on the PC, and I cannot say that the controls are "clunky". In fact, I was horribly impressed by the firing of the guns (especially the non automatic weapons like the pistol and the gun you have in the second mission). In ME2 (which I'm about halfway with now... for like the 5th time), it's almost as if you cannot shoot fast enough (and you only realise this now, when you're playing ME3) with any non auto gun. In the demo, I almost feel like I want the pistol as my preferred weapon. It's powerful, and can pump some serious rpm (rounds per minute) into an enemy, all pretty accurately.

I really enjoyed the starting sequence, although I really hope they do their next game with a main character that can be trusted by the council to actually help him/her. I'm getting sick and tired of the council not trusting my word, damnit! In fact, I think I'm going to play ME1 again, and let them die, and then I'll play ME2 again with a human council (not actually done that before, so it'll be interesting to see the differences too).

All and all, I think I'm really going to enjoy this game, and I cannot wait for the 6th to get it. Already pre-ordered, even before I played the demo. I'm a serious ME fan

    The most likely scenario.

In ME1 there was that one planet that had all the Protheans put into cryo-freeze. Now sure, most of them were killed off by the system to keep the most essential members alive. Even then, it's likely that one of them somehow survived, Sim Sala Bim, you have a Prothean squad member.

Why not take a Alien Resurrection route, with the DNA captured from some form of life of the protheans long lost. And then reanimate the body of some lost soul with it's memories in tact. Just confused.
And along with him/her some critical info on the reapers.

I doubt it's a cryo freeze. The prothean research planet had a few scientists who awoke and developed the cure for the keepers to stop them from accepting the Reaper signal for when they return (the sole reason why Sovereign came to the citadel was to undo this and allow the reapers access to the citadel). So, the prothean scientists did wake up (a couple, according to the VI in ME1). However, they all dedicated the rest of their lives to find the "cure" to the reaper invasion, and then died. Surely they would've known if there was a cryo chamber left running. So, I doubt it would be that. It must be some other means.

What gets me is this... how does population rebuild after a cycle? Surely 50k years isn't enough for evolution to happen again, and provide galactic civilisations? Did they cover this in the story line, and did I just miss it, or don't we know? I know the Reapers leaves the husks behind to clean up/whatever after they leave, and these then starve to death or something, but how does population rebuild from there onward? Anybody know?

They did cover it in a single line, Sovereign explained that the cycle of life is nothing more than a genetic mutation that happens. Life is essentially a genetic ****up

Also remember that the reapers leave behind their technology on purpose so that the genetic mistakes (that's us) can advance according to their design and the path they laid out for us. So it's possible that 50K years is enough for galactic civilizations.

I have no doubt that 50k years is enough to reach a galactic civilisation once they reach the stars, but my question is if it's enough to get them to that point. Either way, I guess it's a game, so it doesn't really have to make sense

would be cool be interesting to follow a lead upon lead, leading to a massive underground bunker (like the pentagon), with outer rings of security upon security droids.
and the prize / soft-centre.... is a lone cryo chamber.
entire base built around the chamber to preserve their "avatar".
