Amidst all of the sound and fury surround the impending release of Aion, NCsoft has been quietly gearing up for a big reveal of Guild Wars 2.

The teasing has begun, the website is stirring, and the official Guild Wars 2 Twitter is now active, pointing the said web page, where the above image hovers, awaiting a day this week when it shall give way to something that should hopefully please patient fans immensely.

ArenaNet head Mike O'Brien has been teasing up a storm at the Guild Wars wiki, hinting at a big reveal to take place this week.

I want to thank all our fans for their patience as we developed the game to the point where we can start talking about it publically. I know you've all been anxiously awaiting this moment. You'll soon understand how ambitious we've been and what we've accomplished during these past two years of development. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but from here on out we'll be able to provide you with more regular updates.

Guild Wars 2 is going to be a huge leap beyond the original. We have the best team in the industry executing at the top of their game, and I'm very proud of what our team has accomplished so far. As I said last week, I'm confident that when you get your first look at what we've been working on, you're going to love what you see. Stay tuned for an exciting week ahead.

Excited yet? Not only is O'Brien teasing, but during communications regarding press appointments at Gamescom, NCsoft said that had a big announcement coming, along with the reveal of Aion 1.5. Certainly looks like this is shaping up to be a big week for fans of guilds and the wars they have.

Guild Wars 2 news coming this week?

It has been such a long time since we've heard anything on ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2. In fact, the game has been so quiet over the years (yes, it has been over 2 years) that we often find ourselves reporting on every single tidbit we find, and then some.

Well, now we get official word from ArenaNet's president himself that solid news is coming. According to Mike O'Brien's wiki talk page, we should expect some information on Guild Wars 2 in what he's calling "an exciting week ahead". With PAX coming in two short weeks, could this be an announcement of GW2 being shown there? We're excited to find out ourselves, but in the mean time, check out the animated logo on the main Guild Wars 2 website, and follow along after the jump for Mike O'Brien's exact quote.

the end of eye of the north hinted at dragons awakening causing *** in the world

and hey look it'll be up to the hapless legions of players to sort them out again.

hey we only wiped out titans, rogue gods and some very nasty spirits before why not immenesly powerful dragons while we are at it...

Awesome a non instanced world and a bit more steampunk with the introduction of guns, bombs and war machiens. Plus it looks freaking pretty. Plus the Charr are playable!

Races are: Charr,Norn,Human,Asura and Slyvian(or something like that)

Well you didn't kill enough because all the human lands have fallen to them except Tyria(I think thats the one remaining one). Wonder how PvP is going to work with 5 races.

geeeez got caught up in new MMO mentality there, it got announced like a few hours ago and the game is most likely more than a year off and we're smack talking each others races.
