Double checked, not sure what happened to my characters but my account was definitely transfered.

On a different note, the Rise of Isengard expansion looks pretty good. I might pick up the legendary edition.

Maybe it was related to the level of your characters, dunno. Mine were all in their 20s to 60s.

Although i did log in when LOTRO went F2P and there were also a character migration/conversion going at that time. [this is now while Codemasters was still running it] .

I think i might sub for a month. Works out cheaper than having to spend TP's on travel passes, bags etc. The $99 deal doesnt look bad either but not sure if i'll play that long.

Subbed and bought the pre-order of Isengard, well worth it. I want to play an alt in LOTRO, the only thing standing in my way is the sheer MOUNTAIN of content that your character builds up over time with deeds, crafting, skills and items, not to mention with the levelling of ITEMS at level 50+ which is a whole other metagame in itself.

While considering making an alt I realised that LOTRO must have the most involved character development of ANY MMORPG that I have played, including EVE. Once you hit the 50s you get engrossed in a HUGE amount of concurrent development paths. It is actually very craftily designed. In some cases it is a grind and can become a big grind if you want every ounce out of the character development, but you can get by without it.

The "levelling" of your equipment at 50+ is very complex and can keep you busy for hours alone.

Eish the lotro bug has bitten me again. Just cant decide what to level. As a semi new player would i be able to manage a RK? i'm a bit tired of playing tanking classes so i'm gonna retire the guardian for a bit. The LM looks nice too but i'm more interested in the RK.

I think the "difficulty" level of the classes is more based on whether LOTRO is your first and only MMO. If you've played alot of MMOs, the RK is not exactly rocket science. I believe RK is much like something you would've encountered in Warhammer...Archmage methinks. I think what makes it an "advanced" class is that it's not simply mashing your skillbar , but doesn't mean it's a difficult class. Warden is the same thing, it is not a difficult class, just require a little more attention than a straight forward Guardian.

I might consider a RK myself. As veteran MMO-tourists , chances are you -have- to play the "advanced" classes because the standard classes can become quite tedious.

Anyway as Shrike mentions, yes, there's way too many advancement things , my Warden sits at lvl 61 and i simply can't remember what is going on with my Deeds, my Legendary Weapons , my skills , my talents ....i feel kinda lost enough that i might play a lowbie alt just to get into things.

I rolled a RK and i'm really enjoying the class so far. It is a yin yang class like you mentioned (warhammer shaman etc). I think this might be the first class i take all the way up to max level. I found the "basic" classes a bit boring to play.

Didnt make much progress tonight tho as that summer festival stuff got me distracted.

All kudos to the design team of LOTRO. Making distractions to keep you off the main levelling track is what this game is REALLY good at. This weekend I levelled my minstrel exclusively then realised that she needs the highest tier adventuring food to make things easier. So I loaded up my level 59 LM who is a cook to get it.
I then did the entry quests to get into Lothlorien, if you have neutral reputation with the elves, they make you full of holes before you get close to the gates. So I spent 3 hours last night getting that reputation. Finally I got to the nose in the air elf that had the recipe only to find out that you need Friend reputation with the smelly elves AS WELL AS the highest reputation with your crafting guild (no idea what this was).
So I went to find out what this crafting guild thingy was, turns out it is a crafting based reputation place that allows you to make cooking "repasts" (with cooldowns ranging to a day to 1 week) to hand in for faction, at various levels of faction you get various yummy foods, not to mention the ultimate goal, that Lothlorien Waybread I wanted in the beginning.
To make these crafting reputation "repasts" I need farmed items like carrots, blueberries and various others.
So I load up my farmer (level 50 guardian) to make these.
I realised also that there are some very useful health (morale) and mana (power) potions that my minstrel can make with, you guessed it, the appropriate reputation with the haughty elves and her scholar crafting guild. To make the various crafting reputation items I need low level scholar mats, so this week I plan to:

    1. Farm (no really, FARM, with a hoe, seeds and water) the vegetables and fruit I need for my cook to make crafting rep items.
    2. Go to lowbie areas on my minstrel and farm (MMO farm) the scholar mats for crafting rep items.
    3. Cook and scholar craft stuff.

So yeah, distractions everywhere, notice that nowhere in that list is any levelling to be done.

Well done LOTRO designers, you got me hooked and heading in the opposite direction of questable content.

Still havent made much progress leveling wise because i was growing mushrooms and barley last night. Stupid farming got me distracted. Anyhow got myself the Isengard expansion. Those armor and cloak sets looks really great. Cant wait to see what the mounts look like once i get my riding skill sorted.

Yeah, LOTRO has definately got me hooked again My hunter is lvl 48 now, so I am hoping to start my quest for my first LI tomorrow! There is just so much to do! I spent a big part today crafting (which I love), but I am going to have to go back to lower areas to farm wood to get proficiency for Forestry and Woodworking.

Hit level 65 (max) with my minstrel yesterday. Now starts the really casual upgrading of the variety of components of a character and doing some groups. Things on my list:

    1. Virtue traits: I have over 1500 mobs to kill of various kinds to get my Valour and Justice to 10, not to mention a variety of places to visit to get others up to 10.
    2. Legendary items. Now that my character is max level it is time to spend some hours levelling my equipment, yes, they have levels too.
    3. Instance running: plenty of instances to run for fun, profit and gear.
    4. Story book quests: I have so many of these yummy stories to do now, since I basically skipped all of them on the way up.

I will devote some time almost every day to this but not going to be obsessive about it, can take it real casual.

And of course, time to play my alt: Warden!

What is the best soldier to have as a hunter for skirmishes? Currently, I have a warrior but he sucks. Should I rather go for a healer type?

I pre-ordered the expansion a while back, decided now to wait a while for it to settle in and patches patched, at least a month down the line before considering joining up again. The grind just got to me, big time.
