Maximus IV Gene-Z Debug Code 30
Having an issue with my board. Randomly it just started displaying 30 on the debug block and wouldn't POST at all. Tested two different pairs of RAM and still the same thing. The debug LED stops at DRAM as well.
Board or CPU that's faulty?
Manual says 30 is for resuming from sleep :/
Pressing MemOK gives 2E on the debug block.

Searching online and it seems to be the board. Some people solved it by reseating RAM, doesn't work here.
Yes, I did do the obvious stuff (Clear CMOS, leave it for half an hour, reseat CPU, check everything is plugged in properly). So over Sandy Bridge and all its issues.

What C-States do you have enabled?

Shammy posted up a new Maximus Bios pack this morning,
M4x.rar
maybe give a new bios a try

C States were disabled. I can't access the BIOS anymore to change anything or update to a different version.
ROGConnect also indicates DRAM (the RAM works though).
Edit
Tried now again, it's stopping at code 39

cleared the Cmos and tried with one dimm in the 2nd slot?
I had something similar on the WS revolution, took me a while to figure out but in the end it was a bad CPU, the IMC was fubar, later with a new CPU one of the dimms also started to fail memtest.
What memory are you using?

Tried all DIMM slots. Tried SuperTalent Hypers and 2x4GB generic 1,5v modules.
Was benching with 2x2GB then was done, added a 1x4GB stick and then things went south. It gives the same error regardless of the slots used. If I turn it on without any RAM it beeps so it maybe is IMC :/

Hi chickenbeef,
Would you like to send the board in so we can have a look at it? It sound like quite a unique problem you are having.

Hi,
I'm going to take it back to where it was purchased (Don't want to courier it to JHB and back >.<) but they're closed for the holidays and are only opening on the 4th.
Anything else I could try to get it working or is all that's left is to test the board with another CPU or the CPU in another board?

send me your shipping details, if you are willing to pay to cost to get the chip back to JHB I will send you a chip to test with.

Took my board back to [Shop] last week and they sent it to Asus in Sandton, got a call from them today to say the board has been replaced (So glad it isn't the CPU).
This seems to be a common problem with the Maximus Genes, my Maximus III Gene had the same detecting memory error.

This is why I like Asus. Service with a smile and if it's broken, and it's not your fault which is understandable, it's replaced.
