I received this mouse pad from Prophecy Shop yesterday evening, after buying it online last week Friday.
My first reaction upon seeing the package was the box that it came in, was surprise. I had not expected it to be in a fancy box and was rather surprised to see how big the box was. I had already knew how big the mousepad was but to be put in a fancy box was the icing on the cake. I got told that I paid way too much money on a mousepad but after testing the surface, I knew I paid good money for a mousepad that exceeded all my expectations - I will never ever turn to another brand again after this.
The surface is very smooth, feels exactly like brand new car seats, totally lag-free. You can move your mouse very fast across it and it will not bunch up or create bumps as the rubber underneath holds it down very well. It's not heavy yet the rubber weights it down enough to hold it to the table and it's quite light and portable with the box if you need to take it with to LAN's.
Yeah I have a Razer pad and like it a lot. It has served me well in the years. Much longer and better than my Razer mouses though...
I bought the same one about 3 months ago and it was very well worth the purchase, very high quality.
I did a lot of reading up regarding the two editions(Speed vs Control) and eventually went with the Speed edition. :P
I chose the Speed Edition mainly for ease of use with my mouse and I like to have a surface where my mouse slides instead of dragging around - dragging puts a lot of pressure on my wrist and cause repetitive strain injury. I had issues with surfaces and previous micepads - I've owned a few mice pads but never liked them as they were too small and annoyed the hell out of me. Also before I got my new mouse, I was using a cheapy mouse on just a table without a mousepad - saw how much damage it did to the table (scraping off the top layer of varnish). I then decided that I would buy myself something decent and looked at the Razer micepads before I purchased my Logitech M705 mouse - I wanted to preserve my new mouse as well as have a better surface to work the mouse on. I chose the biggest and I"m so glad I did that because it's so awesome to have lots of mouse pad space and be able to move my mouse around, unlike with the regular sized ones which restrict you...
EDIT: I felt the surface again with my fingers and realised the material resembled a wetsuit except it's softer...

Well, that's the problem with you. If you have never been a avid PC gamer, then you will never understand why we buy stuff like this. I've had to struggle at LANs with shoddy micepads and mice and keyboards - now I don't have to, I can easily snipe in COD4 or whatever game without lagging or getting draggy mouse movements that you'd normally get on any surface that the mouse sits on...
I will never buy stuff I don't need. Example, I gave away my XFX9600GT to my mom's upgrade because I haven't got time to game anymore and her motherboard doesn't have onboard VGA. The mouse pad is mainly for work - I spend up to 15 hours a day and I need comfort as well as ease of use. The mousepad is perfect and the new mouse is even more so better because it gives me ease of use and lessons the risk of repetitive strain injury that I've had in the past with shoddy mice and not-so-good surfaces. I might consider getting a new graphics card but right now, I have prioritized other things that need to come first and be sorted out.
Keyboards has buttons that go ON/OFF...there's nothing very special about them.
Shape and comfort I can go with, but even then you shouldn't suck less or more based on which keyboard you have.
I'm willing to bet a good guy will get as many kills with a R100 Microsoft OEM mouse, as they will with a superdupper expensive Razer.
It's a whole different thing if the sensor doesn't track properly at all, but my 10 year old boxed Microsoft Intellimouse works as well today as just about every other mouse I've ever used.

Thank **** there are standards on consoles, so we don't need to worry about this kind of stuff.
