I don't see what Firestar is on about with the battery issue. The battery required a few cycles to get up to maximum capacity, but I am not a light user and I get through the day just fine. Most of the time when I go to bed the phone is not even below 33%. So either the Desire you have been observing has a faulty battery or I am just crazy. Either way probably true. Just a side note, people should not bother with task killers. Go read up on how Android handles multitasking. You should never need a task killer.

As for open source projects and the lack of a seamless user experience, sure Android is "open source" but it's pretty much Google's baby. I don't see how the open source part changes anything. I am running HTC Sense on top of it so maybe I am not seeing the problems, but for me everything works quite well. Can you highlight for me what is not seamless?

As for the Market being a failure. Perhaps. The lack of paid apps in lots of regions is quite a letdown, but on the other hand if you get people hooked on your free apps now, then in a year you can probably sell them five other apps. In theory anyways. Time will well. The Apple market is very restricted in the name of "security". You can't have anything that duplicates Apple's current functionality. Of course this did not stop someone releasing a flashlight(?) app that had a secret WiFi tethering component. The Market works fine for me at the moment, I don't have trouble finding things. Maybe I am just more resourceful that the average person.

Last remark regarding the iPhone 4 and "everything uses a case anyways". I don't carry my phone in one, I prefer a pouch that I remove it from. Personal preference. The problem is that Apple went on about their revolutionary new antenna and missed a very obvious design flaw. Now they are also resorting to tactics like making videos of how other phones apparently suffer the same problem. Except they seem to have confused "death grip" with "one finger". Besides, this is Apple, shouldn't they be better instead of going "oh look everyone has this problem" ? Maybe we have just elevated Apple to God status a bit much. I am not Apple hater though, seeing as I just typed this on my MacBook Pro /w OSX.

That's one of my biggest gripes with their app store, they remove anything they decide is not good for theme. The story that comes to mind was their crusade against pron but they decide to leave the Playboy app alone:

I can understand their policy of testing apps to make sure they work perfectly on the right devices and stuff, but for them to just chose what kind of app you can use on your phone isn't cool

How is Android a copy of iOS? They are quite different. Do not confuse "touch screen" with operating system.

Yeah, that's a crazy statement. iOS and Android are completely different OSes.

    Agreed.

I switched from an iPhone 3GS to a Desire and have never been happier or looked back, so you know which one gets my vote.
