I have my xbox on a side table, and my PS3 in the TV cabinet, but overall the best platform is my dark mahogany desk which supports my PC.
Over the years there have been multiple ways of playing video games. Some people have always stuck to computer gaming, and refuse to play anything on a console. The question is simple...which platform is the overall best for video gaming?

This is the sort of topic that start flame wars but to keep it short, it depends on the game. Many gamers have multiple platforms in order to play platform exclusives like GoW 1-3 for Xbox, MGS for PS3 or MMO's for PC.
When a title is cross platform it becomes personal preference. Most people prefer to play FPS games like Battle field on PC with a keyboard and mouse but there are still a few oaks who enjoy their console controllers.
There is also the debate of cost: Consoles are much cheaper then PC's but console games are much more expensive. Some people prefer popping in a disk and not worrying about graphic performance and fine tuning the game.
When it comes to pure graphics and textures I am of the opinion that PC's are surpassing consoles but, in all fairness the PS3 and Xbox are 6 and 7 years old respectively.
Conclusion: Refusing to play other platforms is rather stupid as you'll miss out on some great platform exclusive games. However if you can only choose one for whatever reason, I'd say IMO that the PC offers more diversity and is hardware wise the stronger competitor in 2012. But keep in mind that the next gen consoles are on the horizon and will soon level the playing field, again.

I would certainly say that the games leveled out the field but as Pxius said, the current gen will be replaced soon and probably by a PS4 40gig console that doesn't play PS3 games.
Certainly if you are still on PS1 then you could trade it in for a PS3+cash and happily use that for a while still.
Definitely FiFA12, BF3 and so on are awesome to play and you won't be sad.

If you want the best graphics, precision controls, customisability (level builders, mods), cheaper games, and a vast library of games available on-line (Steam, Origin etc) - then a PC is the only place to get all that.
If you want tray and play, some hot exclusives, easy match making, are not worried about using a gamepad controller, and most of the titles available - then a Console is best.
Ultimately it comes down to preferance. Tray and Play is currently my nr1 reason for preferring a console.
I love the fact that everyone's responding to a spambot.
