    Accelero Extreme 5970 temps

    Hi There

Installed my Accelero Extreme 5970 on my Asus GPU this afternoon. Is it just me or are the idle Temps High?

    Stock Volts, and no overclocking
    Room temp : 20.5C
    GPU 1 Temp : 36.5C
    GPU 2 Temp : 33.5C

    Fan Speed 50%

I have a HAF X with the side 200mm fan blowing nice cool air directly on the Accelero Extreme. I have taken the card out and tightened all the screws a bit more (not to tight), no difference.

Any body else with the same cooler for Temp comparisons?

I will play NFS Shift and see what the temps do.

36C is far from high, ever for idle temps.

Out of curiosity, why keep the fan at 50%? From my experience with other Arctic Cooling products, the difference between 50% and 100% is barely noticible

Hi Johnny. Its a bit of funny thing, I feel that running the fans at 100% 24/7 will shorten the coolers lifespan. But is must say that when gaming I do set the fans to 100%, the temps never goes above 45C. So the difference between idle temps and load temps is approx 10%.

Which is massive. I don't have anything special to cool my GTX and it idles at 40-45C depending on the temp of the day and loads 65-75C depending on the temp of the day with the card's fan set to 70%.

I must say I was a bit skeptical about my idle temps, but after playing a few games last night with 100% fan (and card overclocked to 800MHz on the core and 1100MHZ on the memory), the temps never went above 45c. And yes, even on 100% fan you dont hear a thing from the GPU cooler. So I am more than happy that I got the Accelero Extreme 5970. I works like a dream.

Cant you get a after market cooler for your ASUS ENGTX260 Schumi?

I probably could (though they might have stopped making them) but I don't feel I need to, I like having the fan roaring away at 70% and after my X850XT with 100% fan (which was far louder) idling at 50-60 and loading at 80-90 I'm perfectly happy with the temps as well.

Yep, temps at 36 idle is pretty good and 45 at load is awesome. GPU temps can reach 90+ degrees without causing damage to the GPU's but of course keeping it cooler is always better. Congrats on the Accelero Extreme buy. Question, how much did you pay for it?

I an addition to what I said above (have to quote myself since I can't edit anymore) at this point it would be foolish for me to spend ~1K on a cooler for an old card when a new GTX460 would cost me ~2-2.5K. Not to mention my card is the old 192core version which doesn't overclock all that well.

Haha, sorry, I should've mentioned that I meant the audible difference is almost non existent. But yeah, I don't think you'd have to worry about lifespan of the cooler. You'd easily upgrade before having to worry about the cooler dying. Plus its got a 6 year warrenty
