Will this Fan work with an 8800GTS?

The wire on my fan connector broke, so I now need to either fix it or replace it. While searching prophecy, I came across this: http://www.prophecy.co.za/deepcool-cooler-p-84128.html

My question: is it compatible with an 8800GTS, and, just as importantly, is it as good, or better, than the stock fan?

I realized that since the fan blade design is of the earlier generation, it would probably not work. Okay, how do I go about fixing this? The Blue wire broke just above the contact point, so splicing is not a solution. I will post a picture ASAP.

I don't know if it will work. However, Deepcool is a VERY entry level brand, so I don't think you should expect much from it when it comes to performance. It'll do the bare minimum, IMO.

What you can look at is this one:
Accelero L2 Pro · VGA · Cooling · Arctic Cooling

However, the importer doesn't import this one. I'm moving this thread to the right place, and they'll get back to you early next year with an ETA and expected price. They will import one at a time, if there's an order for it.

This is the only 8800 GTS cooler than I could find right now. My mind is missing today, so I don't know if I missed something.

Just solder it back on for now? IT won't last forever, but it should last a couple of weeks/months.

Well, soldering failed. Fortunately, it was the wire that controls the fan speed, so the fan just runs at 100% all the time.

However, I am still interested in an aftermarket cooler that will give me a noticeable decrease in temperature. I came across this on Prophecy: http://www.prophecy.co.za/zalman-gv1...r-p-25658.html

I know for a fact that the VF1000 requires an additional component to work on the G80 8800s, does the same apply to the GV1000?

All the compatibility information is on our product page for that one. According to the Zalman website (and our website), it will support both G92 8800s and G80 8800s out of the box.

Yeah, I saw that it was compatible, I just wanted to make sure that it was compatible 'as is'.

Do you happen to have any experience with that particular cooler? I tend to find Zalman products to be well worth the cost - I am using their CNPS 10x at the moment - and I would be more inclined to purchase it if there was a noticeable improvement in load temperatures over the stock cooler.

Zalman, in general, is pretty good. I prefer Arctic Cooling and Thermalright over Zalman, these days, though. However, Zalman still offers top quality products, and their coolers offers are top notch. No problems in purchasing them, and since you cannot really get much else, I think it's a good option.

Sorry for asking so many question, but you're just so good at answering them!

While I'm at it, I think it's a good time to tackle overclocking bottlenecks in other areas - my Zalman CNPS 10x means that, even at 3.70Ghz, my CPU doesn't go above 45 degrees but despite the CM Storm Sniper Black Edition, my Mobo northbridge is still a bit toasty.

So I have decided on this aftermarket VGA cooler to complement the Zalman GV1000:

And if so, could I also use one for the southbridge?

I'm not sure. Can you take a picture of your NB and post it here? It will depend on the capacitors next to your NB.

Ok, you don't want the SLI one (the one in the picture), but you do want the HR05 straight or the HR 05 IFX. Basically, any one of the right hand two on this page:
