    limiting snipers is so extremely easy, but the the masses will whine about that too.

    balance is key:
    slow reload times;
    have to wait for scope to calm;
    move slow;
    have to shoot while prone;
    limited ammo;
    extremely weak, no armour;
    etc etc etc

    but the little babies will always find a way to whine about something, instead of adapting/improvising.
    whining has always been a sign of weakness, of people that dont want to do things for themselves.... crying for mommy to change his diapers.
    "oh noez, i suck too much to utilize proper cover and flank the sniper..... so admin must banz them. MOMMY!!!"

    pathetic. what whiners dont understand, is that ppl will then brutally and repeatedly pick on that whiner. or maybe that's just me.

    I don't really understand why snipers have to have extremely weak armour etc, just keep them standard like they should be. I feel one of the main reasons of why the sniper has had such "Success" in BFBC2 was the smaller maps and the failure of the squad voip, in BF2 we had snipers and they were annoying, but as soon as one took one of your squad out, you could hold down your talk button , point him out and dispatch accordingly. Also perks such as magnum ammo etc, i don't know if they add value to BFBC2, i feel it leads to more balance issues. What was your guys view on the lack of squad voip?

    that sucked really, squad only voip in Bf 2 and 2142 was rocking. that allowed you to co-ordinate quite well

    I just hope they have a more verbose unlock system in BF3. I really disliked BFBC2's it felt very limited and that you headed towards the gun with the best stats over a gun you actually liked personally. Perk wise I think the stock standard stuff like running faster, shooting deeper through cover and better accuracy from the hip etc. works I'm not a big fan of your gun does X more damage perks.

    heh Wolfie, then you must suck j/k

    seriously though. my favorite mg in BC2 doesn't have the best damage but the accuracy makes up for it. XM8 LMG FTW!

    EA's CEO, John Riccitiello spoke at Ad Age Digital Conference today in New York. Riccitiello confirmed the Battlefield 3 will be released in November of this year, possibly on the second which is the date we've been seeing so much about lately. It's been clear, since MoH was announced, that MoH and Battlefield 3 exist to beat CoD. After MoH didn't perform as well as hoped, BF3 is here to finally takeover CoD.

    Riccitiello wrote:
    This November, we're launching Battlefield 3. It's going up against the next Call of Duty, which is presently the #1 game in the game industry [...] A game that last year did $400 million dollars in revenue on day one. [Battlefield 3] is designed to take that game [MW3] down."

    Despite what Wedbush analysts, have to say, Battlefield 3 will be the game competing with Call of Duty to knock it off the top spot and take the FPS throne. Comparing the game to the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry in that the games are the top two shooters this coming holiday season. Both will have massive advertising campaigns. We'll start seeing these Battlefield 3 ads later this month.

    Riccitiello wrote:
    There will be a couple hundred million dollars of marketing against these two products going head to head. We think we have the better product

    "think that we have the better product." I'm sure EA knows that they have the better product considering they've been waiting for technology to advance to the level it is at now and allow the game to actually be developed.

    DeVore, a boards.ie member posted his experiences with Battlefield 3. Having been able to play a BF3 demo hands on, he was able to ask the developers and get a few questions answered. Not a verified source!

    A bit of information he was able to squeeze from the devs:

    * Consoles, specifically the 360 have had many hardware capability issues with Battlefield 3 until optimization.
    * There are snipers
    * Regenerating health
    * Dedicated servers
    * "2 out of 128 people"

    DeVore wrote:
    It looks awesome. if you could make a game out of Black Hawk Down, it would look like this.

    So, specific answers.

    Yes there is an extensive singleplayer campaign.

    Its developed with the Frostbite2 engine and it was developed for the PC. The xbox version has been scrunched down. In fact one of the techs was telling me that when they first tried it on 360, it would barely render a single player object before optimisation.

    Snipers are in it but i didnt get to see any play as them.

    There is regenerating health like Halo.

    Here's the shocker.... no dedicated LAN support. The lan has to have connection out to the interweb. He said would you be able to rent dedicated servers, "like before" ... which i hope makes sense to you.

    I asked about commander mode and they all clammed up and wouldnt say anything. I doubt you will see it as one head guy did say "it was only 2 out of 128 people, its a lot of work for that"... but i expect some new tactical and strategic elements to MP because there was something they werent telling us.

    They wouldnt say a lot about MP and certainly wouldnt answer questions about mods squads, mostly they wanted to show off the pretty pictures which were... in fairness... pretty.

    There was one thing I loved, their destruction physics are amazing, you can tear down a 5 storey hotel to the ground, to rubble, or you can blow about a 1/6th of a breezeblock away from a wall to get a shot or to reveal an enemy in cover.

    If we get another invite in the fall (as we sometimes do) I'll try to get a BF mod over to it, we've done it before for driving games mods. This was much more than BF though, i got to see and play Portal 2(awesome, gonna be huge!) and tons of other stuff.

    This game looks absolutely breathtakingly insane... Would I be overstating if I said that it looks like the game with the best graphics ever? Cos it really does...

    It does...but only if you can ignore the horrendous aliasing in some areas, granted a GTX580 shouldn't struggle to fix that problem...but everyone else will.

    No...but it can't look like that and not kill systems and the lack full res shots isn't exactly inspiring.

    Easy example, Crysis looked pretty awesome, but due to *** coding 3 years later most pc's were still struggling. Just saying, there's lots of great games with spectacular graphics that's not as demanding.

    if above is true for PC too, this is exactly why there should be a HC mode.
    no PC battlefield title has had this. 1942/vietnam/BF2/etc.

    just the console clones (BFBC2, etc) has this to cater for the console newbies.
    i sincerely hope regen health will not feature on the PC version!!

    Schumi - seriously, you complaining about graphics already? There is so much more to a game than graphics, and there will be a LOT more to BF3 than bad anti-aliasing...

    Lol, here we go again... I bet some console kids would give you a massive run for your money, even if they played on a controller and you did with a keyboard/mouse combo...

    In any case, before you blow gasket about the above comment, sit back and relax - I'm sure someone will mod BF3 to fix health regen for the truly hardcore like yourself!

    "Oh noes, teh aliasing it's blinding me."

    /sigh.

    EDIT: Also, if you actually view the images in full view then you'd notice that there's barely any aliasing.
