It's blizzard - He'll be in one of the many expansions no doubt.
I'm looking forward to the Witch Doctor and Demon Hunter.
I also find it wierd that we don't have a "knight" type character. i mean the monk is at the bottem of my class list, I have no interest in the character same as I didn't have any interest in the assassin. It feels like it should be an expansion character. All the other classes have loose archetypes of the pre-LoD characters.
Witch Doctor = Necro(with a hint of druid)
Wizard = Sorcerous
Barbarian = Barbarian(duuuuuuh)
Demon Hunter = Amazon(with a hint of assassin)
Monk? It's a pit paladin-ish with it's sigil things, but the core gameplay seems very assassin.
It's blizzard - He'll be in one of the many expansions no doubt.
I'm looking forward to the Witch Doctor and Demon Hunter.
Looking foward to the monk char, just looks so cool.
Demon Hunter and Wizard for me.
Well I'll wait and see how the monk pans out. I don't really look forward to that char. Iirc the monk never really was a blizzard char. It was a char added by sierra or who ever did diablo 1's expansion. So it was pretty crappy.
I looked forward to the demon hunter. I loved the assasin and amazon in D2. So the combo is perfect.
I'm just looking forward to the game, with all the characters! That's what adds so much to Diablo's bang for your buck
bah at the end of the day, best thing to do is roll barbarian and thrash everything to bits with dual axes.
Probably right kab! I always felt the summoners were underpowered anyways. At least with a Barbarian - you know he can stand on his own 2 feet without having to level up Blood Golems.
I miss the Druid, holding thumbs for a rehash of him in a future Xpac. However the Demon Hunter basically uses guns so I'm sold on her and the Wizard has a time-bubble and disintegration ray so that's awesome too! I suppose the Witch Doctor has wall of Zombies and that's pretty cool.

It felt like that in diablo2 yeah. Though I remember in diablo 1 the sorcerer was insane. Lvl 15 fireball -> 3 shot's -> diablo in sy moer in.Originally Posted by John
My only gripe with the Summoners is you end up pumping all your skill points into your summoned creatures - which makes you extremely dependent on them. Necromancer + Blood Golem comes to mind. And after you start pumping skill points into them - they soon become outdated. Why put anything more than 1 point into Raise skeleton, when Clay golem is around the corner, same applies to blood golem. I think I'm skipping summoning skills this time around - they are usually useless for boss fights anyways. I'll probably just go with direct attack skill chains.
Edit: It would be nice if your skill points carried over from summoned monster to better summoned monster.

Ag look I hate to bring the "WoW" word into this thread. But since blizz has been balancing numerous char's with WoW over the past five years, and since Diablo 3 will have a competitive pvp system (D1 and 2 was never balanced for pvp), I think we might get more balanced/representative chars.
I hated the fact that in LoD summons eventually where only good for tanking/distracting/party boosting. There was almost no summon that could actually kill at high levels, especially after 1.10. Skellimancer was perhaps the only viable one that I am aware of and that more because of his curses and sheer numbers. What I hope to see in D3 is a viable summoner that can actually set some reasonable behaviour patterns on the summons, and equip them somehow so that their damage can get as sky high as a fighting character equipped with Godly equipment. Imagine a summoner that could set goals/behaviour for his summons such as:
1. Protect me at all costs. If I am hit fall back and engage the monster attacking me directly.
2. Focus on the boss, not the minions/misc monsters
3. Stay close
4. Range far and take out those annoying ranged monsters
etc.
Playing a true summoner can be a tricky and strategic business. A weak character that rely's on strategy and strong summoning skills to kill would be a nice change of pace to the typical "I have 5000 HP and a BotD" barbarian slashing away like mad with no fear.
Equipping summon's is a tricky business as it can become expensive, and for those who have unlimited overpowered items due to the number of summons they could end up being overpowered. Perhaps only allow one summon to be equipped but be more effective than the LoD merc's where.
Many an Hour will be invested in this title![]()
