    I found the jerking stopped when I dropped the MSAA from 8x to 4x (Res 1920x1200).

    I'm having a controller problem though. I'm using a joystick and the game won't let me access the settings to tweak sensitivity, dead zone etc., so the game is far too twitchy and impossible to keep to racing lines. Other games that don't have a specific joystick pre-set i.e. NFS Shift and GTR Evolution, allow me to associate it with a wheel setting and the 'G25 without pedals' pre-set works 100%. Any ideas to work around this would be appreciated.

    Doug, I had the jerking too but now have MSAA 8x all the time.

    Have a look at this.

    HD5870 and F1 2010 - Graphic slowdown and VDDC Current - Help!

    It really works. Yesterday I had a full session i.e. practice, qualifying and race without any jerking.

    Enjoy.

    Try it out and then check your controller again, you might not need to change the sensitivity any more.

    Doug, you do have another choice. Apparently if you change the file attribute of replay.pbf - to read only then it apparently also works.

    Or else read here.

    I'm fortunate to not have any stuttering with graphics maxed out on my 5870. Playing with my new Logitech wheel and the settings are great.

    Dnf for the first race; qualified 12th, finished 8th for the next and then got pole in the third yesterday in qualifying. Bloody hell, was 100% raining in qualifying, so had to reset the car and use wet tyres. Graphics amazing, though. Your vision almost gets completed obscured the drops on your visor and you can definitely feel the difference in the physics between wet and dry.

    All in all, awesome game. Just wish I had more time to play!

    I'm up to Malaysia and it's raining, was able to end first for practice. Next is qualifying.

    Record for Dubai - can't remember.
    Record for Melbourne - 1:28.538 or there abouts, might be lower

    Practice in the rain is weird, something codemasters has to sort out. Whether I leave the pits right away or fast forward the time then leave the pits, the track is always soaking wet with 15min. left and I leave the pits for the first time and the track is wet. Do a single lap then come in and change to inters then leave and come back then change to dry. Then leave the pits and do two laps and the track is just about bone dry. If I do it that way I get to the dry track much quicker than if I go out when practice starts.

    Received this reply from Codemasters about my joystick settings query:

    Thank you for submitting your recent request to Codemasters Customer Services concerning F1 2010.

    Unfortunately the advanced wheel settings are only available for wheels. Sorry.
    Their concern and sympathy is so touching, brings a tear to my eye.

    F1 2010 Patch 1.01 has been released and the good news is....... patch 1.01 gives access to "Advanced Wheel Settings" for all controllers, yay!

    The game is a LOT better for me now, I can actually steer the cars which somehow seems quite important in a racing game, or maybe that's just me. .

    They've fixed a whole lot of other stuff which didn't bother me because I couldn't play it anyhow, I guess now I won't know what the problems were, seeing they're not there anymore.

    Patch link: http://www.codemasters.com/downloads...s.php?id=41009

    Patch 1.01 changelog:

    PC

    • "Pit-in" OSD indicator now appears after the player is advised to pit to repair car damage

    • A number of shadowing improvements have been added

    • Amended the time trial penalty system so that only players cutting the final corner on certain tracks will have their subsequent lap times
    invalidated

    • Balanced the effects of the drying line created by cars when in a wet race

    • Balancing improvements have been made to AI drivers to prevent unexpected race results

    • Corrected an issue AI cars would not attempt to move out of the player's way when under a blue flag on an in / out lap during practice and qualifying session

    • Corrected an issue where AI cars would fail to respond appropriately when cars were either side of them in a corner

    • Corrected an issue where AI cars would not be required to pit in a mandatory pit race after the use of a flashback

    • Corrected an issue where AI times were being reported incorrectly on the first lap

    • Corrected an issue where AI were being disqualified during wet races in Montreal

    • Corrected an issue where car driving style was defaulting to "Wet" in network sessions

    • Corrected an issue where damage to AI cars was being inconsistently applied

    • Corrected an issue where disqualified AI cars would cause network races to end prematurely

    • Corrected an issue where disqualified drivers were displayed in the incorrect order in the online race results screen

    • Corrected an issue where flashback would become disabled after resetting to track

    • Corrected an issue where incorrect race positions were reported in a network race after terminal damage had occurred

    • Corrected an issue where lap and split times would be displayed incorrectly after flashing back to before the start/finish line

    • Corrected an issue where pit engineer would fail to remind you to pit on mandatory pit stop races

    • Improvements have been made to the pitting process to prevent the player getting stuck.

    • Corrected an issue where positions of AI cars in a network race would be incorrectly displayed after a player quit the session

    • Corrected an issue where punctured tyres would be carried across to subsequent sessions in a race weekend

    • Corrected an issue where race strategy would fail to update correctly after the player manually selected a different starting tyre choice

    • Corrected an issue where research path choice was not being carried over to subsequent season

    • Corrected an issue where save data is reported corrupted

    • Corrected an issue where sessions in progress would appear on the server list after quitting a network session

    • Corrected an issue where some AI cars using a single-stop strategy would not pit during a mandatory pit stop race

    • Corrected an issue where the dynamic racing line would not display correctly if the grip conditions changed

    • Corrected an issue where the incorrect car name could be displayed above cars in the Grand Prix menu after completing a Time Trial race

    • Corrected an issue where the player is told to copy their team mate's car setup

    • Corrected an issue where the player was able to pass through other cars after restarting a session

    • Corrected an issue where yellow flags would continue to be displayed for cars that had been removed from the race in network sessions

    • Corrected an issue where user would be penalised for overtaking pitted AI cars when under yellow flag

    • Made penalties less likely to be awarded after spinning out on the track

    • OSD now displays time gap between cars on the sector and lap split times

    • Reduced the frequency of penalty warnings given for minor collisions

    • Reduced the frequency of punctures received from standard tyre wear

    • Sector times for the car on pole position is now shown in the split times on the OSD

    • Corrected an issue where force feedback would remain applied when restarting a session with full wheel lock used

    • Corrected an issue where the driver head would bob extremely violently on certain machines

    • Enabled access to the Advanced Wheel Options for all users

    Patch did wonders for the game, especially the split times that's coming up now. Not only driving for 30 laps in the middle of the field with no idea what's going on.

    Also, now that the AI is pitting, you don't have to worry about going to pit and not regaining your pre-pit position.

    A new problems on the PC is puddles dissapearing on wet track. Codemasters has a fix and some of the community has even refined the fix. The stuff below comes from the F1 2010 Codemasters forum:

    Disclaimer: The following steps are not for the novice user. Do this at your own risk! Make a backup of any files you edit! Any users that have previously swaped the ‘WorkerMapCore.xml' file should undo their changes.

    1. Open Windows Explorer and Navigate to 'My Documents\My Games\FormulaOne\hardwaresettings’.

    1. You can do this by pressing the windows key and 'e' or by going to 'Start' and then selecting 'My Computer'.
    2. Right-click on 'hardware_settings_config.xml' and select 'Open With' and then 'Wordpad'.
    3. On the penultimate line (before '</hardware_settings_config>') add the line '<track_info_system type="gpu" />'.
      So your last two lines should read:

      <B><B>
      <track_info_system type="gpu" />
      </B>
      </hardware_settings_config>
      </B>
    4. Click 'File' and then 'Save'.
    5. If you get the following warning 'You are about to save the document in a Text-Only format, which will remove all formatting. Are you sure you want to do this?' then select 'Yes'.
    The fix slowed down a LOT of PC's and people were reporting huge frame drops, so here is a fix for that also, altough it apparently doesn't work for everybody (works for me!):

    DUAL CORE USERS - Solution to puddles, dry line and race line AFTER PATCH!
    (First of all sorry for my english, I speak spanish, I used Google translator for this)

    This solution is a mix of the CM hotfix and a CM forum user idea, neither of the 2 separate solutions worked for me, the first one corrected the bug in the puddles but the FPS dropped to 50%, the second did the opposite, increased the FPS but did not address the puddles and the other bugs, but testing and testing and mixing the fixes I have everything working very well now...

    Tested by me on a Dual Core system, but maybe can work also in a quad core system.

    My specs:

    - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+
    - XFX GeForce 9800 GT - 512 Mb GDDR 3
    - Super Talent DDR2 800 - 4 X 1024 (4Gb)

    Do the following:

    1- First BACKUP THE FILES! Then add this line <track_info_system type="gpu" /> in the penultimate line (before '</hardware_settings_config>') of your hardware_settings_config.xml (in documents and settings/formulaone folder)... your last two lines should read:

    <track_info_system type="gpu" />
    </hardware_settings_config>

    Save the archive.

    2- First BACKUP THE FILE! Then open workerMap2Core.xml (in C:\Program Files\Codemasters\F1 2010\system folder), go to the end of the file and set the trackinfo like this

    <workerSet name="trackinfo" jobpoolsize="1024">
    <worker name="core_1_below_normal" />
    <worker name="core_0_normal" />
    </workerSet>

    (Note that you're changing <worker name="core_1_normal" /> by <worker name="core_0_normal" />)

    Save the file.

    PLAY THE GAME!

    Then lastly, the raindrops on a DX9 machine will for some reason be pixelated on the cam/visor after the patch. Here is what to do:

    If you want to see the drops on the camera as they did originally before the patch, do the following:

    Copy the files postprocess.pssg in their original pre patch versions and replace the new versions that the patch installed in C:\Program Files\Codemasters\F1 2010\dx9\shaderpack and the one in C:\Program Files\Codemasters\F1 2010\dx11\shaderpack folders.

    Remember to BACKUP THE FILES before replace!

    If you don't have the original postprocess.pssg files, here is the link to download it:

    MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

    I'm really enjoying the game and before I patched it, had some mods installed (Sun mod - better colours; grip mod - reduces the grip to 95% and therefore the rear will not snap so easily but go into a slide for a second before snapping ; camera mod ; gives you something like 10 camera angles; and lasty tire texture mod - you can acutally see the degredation more profoundly) which made the game even better. After the patch, you can't save your game with certain mods installed, so I deleted them all.

    With the F1 season ending on such a high, this is the perfect game to accompany your Sunday morning preparation session before the "final"!

    I managed to cockup the first quote: Supposed to read like this:

    Right-click on 'hardware_settings_config.xml' and select 'Open With' and then 'Wordpad'.
    On the penultimate line (before '</hardware_settings_config>') add the line '<track_info_system type="gpu" />'.
    So your last two lines should read:

    <track_info_system type="gpu" />
    </hardware_settings_config>

    You will also note that the first quote and the 2nd part of the 2nd quote corresponds, as the second one incorporated CM's "official" fix.
