And.... pass, till I can get the internet only option hacked. I buy a SP game every now and then to play when my internet is down, otherwise I play my MMOs. Sad really.
Diablo 3 to feature player-to-player real money auction house for virtual items | JoystiqDiablo 3 will sport a couple of in-game auction houses to sell items from player to player. One will be run entirely with in-game gold (very similar to the current WoW Auction House), and one will let players sell and buy items with actual money
words... i have none.
Diablo III will require always-on internetBlizzard has announced that their forthcoming hack and slash RPG sequel, Diablo III, will require a constant internet connection to play, even in single player mode.
and this was expected really

So sorry, you cannot play Diablo 3 right now.
Seems par for the course these days. I dunno - still going to buy it I think. As long as they don't have some outrageous subscription fee - I'm still keen. I can live with the always online - although I'm sure many others can't.
i will buy it - but crack it for offline sp.
i've never liked d2 mp/online - it sucks when you're ranged. no loot![]()
Sounds good. I'll take 2 copies thanks.
Going to be getting it (eventually) but avoiding all in-game transactions. I am not into the MMO scene and am quite happy to play without that element.
Well I’ve said on ES that this is probably a good way to eliminate gold farmers.
Still not sure how they’ll make it all work in different countries due to exchange laws.
As far as I understand the real money will be linked to your bnet account. So you just have to be clever about it should you choose to use this system (which you don’t have to use btw...). You keep on selling stuff, more dollars will be loaded on your bnet account. Then you just use those dollars to buy other stuff.
Can't really be bothered with this. My internet is online 24/7 (mweb and telkom willing) and I have an uncapped account. You don't need to use the currency based auction house and I can't really care if people get uber loot because they have more money than me, it's not going to change the game for me much.
I will still get this, unless they decide I have to pay $15 a month to play then they can go stick it.
When I can find a way to crack the online all the time part, I will most certainly buy it. Good memories of years of playing D1 and D2.....
Living out on the middle of nowhere that I do, internet up all the time does not happen every day, literally!

And so Blizzard officially abandons the Single Player community who got them where they are today. Sigh. No way in hell I can do the always on internet so until that is cracked I am not interested. Heck even when it is hacked it dissappoints me no end that I have to do something illegal to even play the game. I will never get how its a good business model to dictate to people how to enjoy a product that they bought.
I don't see why the "always on internet" is an issue.
Well if you have ADSL at home and you're bitching about it I don't really know what to say to you.
But I suppose not everyone has a persistant always on connection. Hells some people in RSA stuggle to get a telephone line to their homes.
Not that it's really the first world's problem. Hacking and botting was a ugly thing is diablo 2. I don't care about the debate whether or not it stamps out piracy. It probably doesn't. As long as the legal bnet version remains cheat free (which was not the case with d2's offline generated mega characters), and the only way to get it done is to have everything run from a bnet server.
/edit erg. What ^he said.

Fact is, the overwhelming majority of their target market has cheap, reliable, always-on broadband.
Until you go on holiday with your laptop and try to play a few rounds if Diablo 3 on a dodgy GPRS connection , then i'll ask you again...
Thing is, even though my house might have 24-7 internet, the times i -really- want to game the entire day, i'm not actually at home....like being on holiday.
don't play diablo while on holiday. rather go to the beach...
Don't worry guys, help is on the way: We need to get fibre into homes: Padayachie « Broadband « MyBroadband Tech and IT News
